About Local Music Scene

Our Story

Local Music Scene was born from late nights in sticky-floored pubs, from the electrifying energy of a crowd singing along to a band they just discovered, and from a deep-seated passion for the raw, untamed spirit of Australian live music. We are a collective of writers, photographers, and die-hard music fans who grew tired of seeing incredible local talent get lost in the noise of mainstream media. We noticed a disconnect: while every city and town in Australia hummed with a unique musical pulse, there was no single, dedicated platform that truly celebrated the grassroots level of this vibrant ecosystem. So, we decided to build it ourselves. We started with a simple blog, sharing reviews of gigs we'd attended and interviewing bands in backstage greenrooms, and it quickly grew into the comprehensive guide you see today.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to be the most authentic and comprehensive guide to the live music scene in Australia. We aim to shine a spotlight on the emerging artists who are shaping the future of Australian music, from the indie-rockers in Melbourne's laneways to the electronic producers in Sydney's underground clubs. We are committed to supporting the small, independent venues that are the lifeblood of the industry, providing them with a platform to reach a wider audience. More than just a listings site, we strive to build a community where fans can discover their new favorite band, artists can connect with new listeners, and the spirit of live performance is not just preserved, but championed for generations to come. We believe that music is a unifying force, and we are here to amplify its power, one gig at a time.
